Financial Analyst – Private Equity

An early-stage active investor in the SME space seeks an up-and-coming Financial Analyst to play a key role across the business as they make their investment decisions. Research, analyse and evaluate potential deals and portfolio companies. Financial modelling, valuation and due diligence experience is important, as is a background in transactions analysis and a personal interest in the SME sector.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of SME companies, with a focus on identifying opportunities that align with the fund’s investment philosophy and process.
  • Evaluate business fundamentals, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and growth prospects to generate investment ideas and recommendations for the portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess company performance, forecast future earnings, and determine valuation metrics for potential investments.
  • Monitor portfolio holdings and industry developments, staying abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and company-specific events that may impact investment decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to formulate investment theses and contribute to portfolio construction decisions.
  • Communicate investment recommendations and insights effectively to internal stakeholders.

Key to success in this role

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services ideally within transaction services or private equity
  • A personal interest and understanding of SME businesses.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
  • A proven track record of generating investment ideas, conducting thorough research, and making informed investment recommendations that drive portfolio performance.
  • Experience in transactions including M&A
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex investment ideas and insights, clearly and persuasively.  

Qualifications
Bachelor’s and University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business. A CFA / CFA qualification
